I am in the process of restoring my 1982 Yamaha Maxim 400 J (aka 15G,… 12R model). As I work on it, I will post definitive results that hopefully will help others too. The connector between carbs is an aluminum tube measuring 9mm O.D. It has (4) O rings that seal the fuel transfer between the two carbs attached to the transfer tube. Mine were brittle, breaking as I tried to carefully remove them, but alas they are probably 40 years old! So, I have replaced the O rings with what is called “Dash 010” or 1/4” I.D. 3/8” O.D….(commonly an aviation convention)…… that’s exactly 6.35 I.D mm and 8.25 O.D. mm.
