Hey guys. today was hot in the 90s when i took off for a trip. I think i was fighting a head wind, so bike was working hard..when i got about half way to my destination i noticed the bike seemed to be louder in the top end. like a loud clicking noise. I think it was coming from top of the cylinders. Bike seemed to be running fine. when i got to the fishing shop the bike cooled for about hour and half. On the way home the motor sounded normal. same as usual. Bike ran good all the way home...Any ideas??

Ps . The cam chain tensioner adjusts auto matically if i remember right, correct??? thanks .

Yes.

The top end does indeed generate some clicking noise from the valve gear, and it can change a bit as the engine gets hot. What you describe is most likely normal, unless you have ridden in this type of temperature for this duration before and it didn't make the noise. Nevertheless, keep an eye on it and if it changes further, then might be the time to look into it.
