Bad first.
I watched a woman's suv roll backwards down a hill and onto my bike.

Good news
she had insurance.

question-
how likely is allstate to total it
and
how much do you think they will give me for it if they do
handlebar risers, speedo, tach, exhaust and tank all need replaced now.:yikes:

we want pictures or it never happened :)

EDIT: When I read this ithought you meant the car actually rolled (tumbled) down a hill and over your bike. So I was invisiging a suv rolling over the top of your bike, I would have thought it would be pretty squashed after that, lol. Was the lady in or out of the car?

she was out. ill post pics tomorrow, the bike was really starting to come together too. oddly enough, it seems to run better now.

I don't know much about insurance, but if they base their figures on the market value of a 33 year old motorcycle, i assume it wont be very much

NADA Value of a 1980 XS400 is:

Excellent cond: $1340
Very Good Cond: $920
Good Cond: $560
Fair Cond: $295

Wow. Either labour is cheap in your area or they are expecting you to do the work for free and therefore are ripping you off.

Do NOT sign off on this until you are certain the bike is as good or better than before.

Dave

well, the blue book value of the bike is about 300.00
i was expecting a total loss. AAAAAnd this give me more excuses to cut and grind more bits of it off. though it will probably end up in more of the rat rod end of the spectrum now. oh well.
