How to polish the engine, what do you use??

Now she is all running and I am just waiting on the date for my technical inspection I can put my mind to more cosmetic stuff.

I have some chrome polish for the chrome bits, and that works quite well. But I see in many of your pictures your engine is also very shiny. Mine looks like crap compared to yours, so what do you use to polish up the engine covers? I tried the chrome polish but it did not really change anything.

I tried scotch brite and chrome polish also not really any outcome except now one panel looks scratched.

How did you make your engine panels so nice and pretty....

Pictures below of her first actual ride under power, only in my back garden and only to first gear but its all I am allowed until I have the technical inspection paperwork next month and can get insurance for her then.

I need to think of a name too...

Hey, funny I was on YouTube shorts and seen a video. This guy uses a multi tool. He adapted the old saw blades and uses that to polish the motor head fins. Seamed to work very well. Sorry I don't have a Link, but YouTube search could maybe help you. Good luck!

How did you make your engine panels so nice and pretty....

I use a rag, some metal polish and rub a lot by hand. I really only do this at the start of the season, but it seems to get easier each time (probably because the alloy is getting smoother over time).

Also, nice looking bike BTW! I especially like that rear rack. A bike with a nice rack always gets some attention from me.

I found some youtobe stuff on it, but its mostly aimed at USA market trying to sell some products and I am in Europe so the products dont exist. I tried scotch brite but it just put a whole lot of scratches on the surface. I tried using wet and dry getting smaller and smaller and it was good at removing the scratches the scotch brite put on there.

One of the youtube videos suggests using oven cleaner...that can be good to remove the oil marks but not for polishing.

Maybe I will just try some cutting polish and rub a lot by hand...maybe elbow grease is the only solution here....

Catain Chrome, I am quite happy with the bike, the rack is good to put some stuff like a wrapped up tent on it and do some touring. I might buy some luggage box for it...I enjoy touring and by going south I extend my summer. Plus, we all love racks...

I think this is the answer. Don't make it too shiny. The bike is meant to be ridden. I suggest getting the bike shiny enough to look like somebody takes care of it, but stop at that point and then ride it for the rest of the year.

do not use oven cleaner.it will eat iti found mother's for chrome polishing .think it's American brand

some 2000 grit and wd 40 works well
