I have a 1980 XS400 Special, I call her Irene. I got her a couple of months ago for $800 with 5500 miles, and has been running pretty well.
Kick-start only for the time being, the electric start problem is a topic for another day. The previous owner put on the Daytona bend bars but I had to fix the bar end mirrors so they mounted correctly. I did a full LED bulb conversion (except the headlight of course). With a new o-ring chain, some miscellaneous fixes from ebay (gas tank mounting rubber, seat lock fix, bent rear footpeg bracket, etc.) and it's been a pretty good ride.
I've put 1000+ miles on her since I've had her. I don't quite understand how somebody can own a bike for 30+ years and only put 5500 miles on it, but their loss is my gain.
Thanks to everybody here who has helped me out with the bike so far (as an anonymous browser).
