I know this might be a silly question but I'm currently having issues with spark, I've been reading on because adjusting the TCI or whatever on the left side of the engine.

But if I'm kickstarting, isn't the TCI only engaged for electric start?

Trying to rule out my problems here for no spark, sorry if stupid!

If TCI is transistor controlled ignition, then it's replacing the older points system and will be active no matter how the engine is started

The TCI is engergized by turning the key "On" and having the kill switch in "Run." You need these switches to be in On/Run regardless of whether you are kicking or button pressing for a start.
Thanks for the info.

It turned out that my killswitch was broken so I wasn't getting any spark (my reason for posting this question)
