hi guys, just got an xs400 and it seems to leak oil when I start it, and the crank case is overfilled with oil. How do I go about testing the petcock, to make sure it isn’t dumping fuel when the bike is off? Thanks
Pull the fuel hose that is between the petcock and left carb off at either end and walk away. After a few hours return and if there is a puddle of fuel on the ground, the petcock is the leak source. If your engine has fuel in it, your carb float valves also leak.
