Ive been having an issue with a high idle, I recently cleaned the carbs multiple times and also rebuilt them. I set float height to 26mm, since I realized they were around 22mm. Removed the pilot screws and didn't even realize the tips were broken. I've went thru many forums on this site, tried every method and I literally can't get them out. I've used penetrating oil, with a heat gun, use a thin needle to punch it... and nothing.

Seemed to make a little progress but the tips aren't budging at all, feel like tips of the needles I used probably snapped in the little hole, I have no clue.

I've seen people use nitric acid to dissolve the brass, but I have no clue where to buy that stuff unless someone knows?

Wondering if I could possibly run it like this, which I did try... and idle shoots up to 4000 RPMS...

Same issue I had originally... I'm running out of ideas! I'd literally pay someone to take these off my hands and punch out these d*mn pilot tips🙃 Any ideas?

Note that I've also bench synced it the closest I could & also change Carb boots. Symptoms remain the same from when I originally got the bike.

ask CaptChrome. he is the man to help you here.he probably hasn't seen your post.

have you tried drilling it out with the smallest of drill pieces 🤔
I think this is probably what I would try. You might need to order some specialty bits to get one small enough. Regarding the high idle - if you have tried turning the idle down and that has not worked, then you most likely have an air leak. I would suspect the throttle shaft seals. You can test for air leaks with something like WD-40 by spraying it on different areas of the carb and the boots. if the idle drops, you have hit one of the spots.

Give it a generous amount of penetrating oil, be patient and let the sit for a while (even overnight). Try a very small Torx bit (hopefully small enough to partially fit into the hole). Give the bit a firm but not too heavy tap with a hammer to seat it in the hole. There are extractors too which I haven’t tried suspecting one that small might break.

I finally got it out today!!

I used 10k Gold tester acid to melt it down a bit, both from the top and inside. Used vice grips with sewing needle pinched on the end and lined it up, then tapped with a hammer from the inside.

So simple when you take your time and get the right tools Lol!

If anyone needs help I'll show exactly what i used.

New pilot screws fit just right also! W

Regarding the high idle, still has the same issue... I've attached the carb back onto the bike and it seems I'm having a slight gas leak still, coming from the back side... no clue tbh.

I set floats perfectly (26mm), I think it might be bad gaskets ill have to inspect again. Got the bike to run for a bit today but still have the high idle and both cylinders don't wanna fire same time, maybe be a spark issue? Ordered some new ones just incase. (4$ NGKs on rockauto lol)

Let me know if anyone got some ideas on what I should check next!
