PLEASE HELP HELP HELP!!¡

Ok first off does anyone know exactly what DIODE I need that that comes off of the there white wires to the relay ??? I got the three white wires that come from the motor and one branches off to go to I believe to be the headlight relay but but where it branches off it goes to a DIODE before the relay.,.. Can some one tell me the specs of that and what direction it goes??? ( W---- > ) ((the W IS THREE WIRES AND THE---- IS THE BRANCH OFF))) LOL what end do I want the line on the DIODE to go?? W------( | )-------[. ]Relay...or

Any common diode like a 1N4001 should work. The painted line on the diode should be towards the headlight relay (away from the branch).
