Hello!

Does anyone know what the round part circled on the attached picture is called and if it is possible to source a replacement without buying an entire advance mechanism?

I have a 1977 XS400D, the previous owner installed an electronic ignition that was working very poorly. I replaced it with an XS-Charge from MikeXS, but it failed in less than a month of use, so now I am trying to put the original points back in.
I sourced points, plate, and a new condenser, but I do not have the circled part since the PO removed it to fit an electronic ignition in.

Thank you!

I have the factory electronic ignition, so don't have super great knowledge of the XS points ignition, but this looks like the cam that the points ride on to open and close. My two cents anyway if no one with good knowledge responds.

Thanks for the reply. You may be right, searching for "xs400 points cam" on eBay did show up with one for an XS650, but none for the XS400. :(

I am really hoping that I won't have to buy an entire advancer for this one part since the one I have works fine and they are a bit pricey.

Does anyone have a clue on if cams/advancers from other bikes would fit?
