Quick question, I'm looking for a seat cover I can staple on to the seat that came with my 83 XS400 Maxim. The original got old and torn. I found someone on eBay who claims to gave one for the 70s-81 SECA XS400. It looks pretty close in the photos. Anyone know if they're the same?

So, I found someone in eBay who matched my seat by photo and sold me a cover which he says will fit. I ordered it. I'll update with pics and the eBay username after it arrives.

I bought a seat cover from a lady named Shirley in Texas. B & H Specialties. I have an 82 Maxim. It fitted perfect. I believe she has many patterns for all kind of seats. Very reasonably priced too!

If you google “B & H Specialties” her website comes up. If that doesn’t work I’ll send you her phone number OK?

Well, it arrived and it doesn't really fit. The seat cover is flat, not contoured like the original. I don't think it will staple down without creases.

I don't think the seller is a bad guy. He's offering to fix it if I send him my old cover back. But there's no contouring to this at all. It will crease on stapling and I know that. I found the B&H site, and found the seat cover for my bike on it. It's more expensive, but it's clearly a perfect match. I'm not quite sure what to do. The turnaround time here tells me sending it back for another is pretty foolish.

Hum. Doesn’t look like that cover is what’s needed. The upper and lower seats definitely need to have a contour, Unfortunately this is what happens with old bikes. It’s a bit of a crap shoot to get what’s needed sometimes.
