Speedometer cable fitting

Good morning Chaps,
As previously mentioned, I have fitted an XS400 front drum to my Renaissa, which is nearing completion. I’ve said that before, too! There seems to be no means of securing the speedometer cable to the hub. Does it just rely on the O ring holding it in? There’s no hole for a retaining screw anywhere. It just seems a bit odd.
I have an M7 thread in the brake cable anchor too. The cable I bought has an M8 adjuster. I made up a new cable and threaded adjuster. Thanks.

The speedometer cable is held in by a clip that locates into a groove inside the receptacle that the speedo cable inserts into. It is a similar arrangement to the clips that hold in the fork seals and also the caps at the top of each fork tube. AFAIK, this is the only method that Yamaha used for this size of front drum brake backing plates as found on the XS and RD bikes.

The clip is shown on the Speedometer Tachometer parts sheets and is called "Ring, Stop" P/N 102-25137-00-00.
