What did you do with your XS today?

You have options for washers:

- Your local dealer can still order them, part #90201-222F4-00 or 90201-224L4-00 are still available. They are different thickness, but the diagram I looked at didn't specify what.

- Make your own. I'd suggest hardened steel.

Make sure to keep the swing arm centered in the frame by having the same thickness of washers on either side of the pivot.

Thanks for the tip, I found a dealer who seems interested in helping me (after the dealer who left me on hold twice for fifteen minutes after I asked for the parts department). The Yamaha website says both p/n's are still available, but the dealer said only one is still available, but he ordered me up some, we'll see how it goes.

You sure do have nice looking bikes xschris, and a clean floor. I tore the exhaust system off my 79 and the rear wheel off...A little spring popped out of the rear wheel seal...Ha,ha...This is the bike I'm converting into a caferacer. Last few weeks worked on the ignition system and got the bike running...Seems it was 180 degrees out of time when I bought it not running...Trying to figure out how to make a café seat....Have to get the heater going early in the morning in the garage as we have had some 20 degree temps overnite...Spad

Just slapped my Drag Bars from Dime City Cycles on.
I guess I will need to do something with my cable length, I have a huge loop of brake hose...?
Also my the master cylinder doesn't sit level do to the hose fitting.

Any input about what I should be doing?

You might want to replace the MC and hose with a set that is more suited for them bars.

I know they make hoses the have movable ends. I would measure the length you need and the angle at witch the hose would be to attach to your MC.

Take a look at Apex Brakes to see the various fittings that are available. I had them make my line in all black. Ordered on a Saturday, made and shipped on the Monday. It is well made and exactly what I ordered. They included washers and black bolts at no extra charge.

Finished the respray and got the forks back on, not sure what ill do with the dints in the tank, may just leave it clear for a while and go with a theme later on. mocked up the wheels and new bars.

Since I haven't really posted any updates...

I welded the seat mounts to the frame and fit the seat.
I attached the seat pan/cushion to the base.
I installed new drum brake shoes and springs in the front and rear.
I installed new wheel bearings in the front and rear.
I installed new, smaller fork boots.
I modified one of the foot pegs to fold and rebound properly with my aftermarket pegs.
I ordered a new special spark plug for one side of the engine to keep temperatures down (long story here).
