Hi European guys,

Where are you getting parts for your XS400 machines, there is not much available in Sweden where I am rebuilding this abandoned Xs 400. Any special dealer you are using or part supplier that is reliable and can ship inside EU?

Its kinda typical rebuild stuff, I could get it on ebay but then its gunna come as lots of individual packages and I would prefer to order from just one place and collect once from my post office.

To give a idea what the shopping list looks like so far....its gunna be like this. It will be getting bigger as I strip her down and find out what needs repair but this bike was abandoned in a garage in Northern Sweden about 15 years ago, I travel to China a lot so getting rubber pipes and fuel filters is easy as they are common for almost all motorbikes but specific parts that are just for xs400 are just not available there and not available anywhere around me in north Sweden.

Hey Evers,
What is the name of the shop in Denmark, I am in Copenhaven sometimes so maybe I can go look if it is there. I dont know where to buy in Sweden and I am slowly making a list of parts I need to shop in the place in Holland that was suggested as whilst they have the parts the postage is high to sweden so I make a batch.
Maybe you can put a link here.

This is what I am trying to aviod :)

I have found Yambits in the UK offer an excellent service.

I note your comment "Jeg blev lige straffet med moms og div. Fra England så av av" which AI suggests means "I just got hit with VAT and various fees from England, so ouch ouch" ...

...so I wonder how much you get charged import duty for goods imported from the UK to Sweden (the Eu)? and if so what % of the value is charged? I wanted to import a carburetor from Germany to the UK and was quoted +4% import duty on the value of the goods + VAT (plus any agent handling fee DHL 0%). Note: I understood I would not have to pay German VAT just UK VAT whereas your post suggest you had to pay UK VAT (20%) in addition to Danish/Swedish VAT?

The charges looked something like this (I dont have the receipt anymore)
Swedish VAT at 27% (I recall)
Import duty
customs administration charge
NORD post administration charge for handling the customs and paying the VAT on my behalf.
NORD post also charged a service fee for the declaration
and since the sender had not paid the correct postage I got charged for that too with a fee for processing the underpaid postage....

the costs of the above came to about 1/3 of the cost with the postage adding to it.
After Brexit its difficult to purchase from the UK as it is outside the market so additional complexity that adds to costs.

Thanks for your response. I believe the same can happen in the UK now when importing from the EU. It seems the middlemen handling the goods are often adding "handling and administration charges" which, in my view, are purely opportunistic profiteering. It is not complex at all for a simple customs declaration with a defined by category Import Duty declared by seller (be they within EU or in the UK)....

Just hit Yambits for a ignition coil, a set of contact points, and turn lens and rear lens. Got them delivered to a friend in London due to Brexit and will pop buy and collect them in early August. CMS the company in Netherlands was so expensive to be untrue, I did think to pop over to the states on a adventure but nobody could tell me any good places to go looking at wrecked bikes (I kinda love wandering through wrecking yards) I will update Yambits in August when I get the parts in my hands.

I have a friend I will visit in August in London, everything was shipped to his address.....Sweden is just going crazy with stuff from China or UK...they are slamming charges all over it and if not paid in a short time returning it to sender and slamming another charge against it for returning it.

the ignition coils are good.i had to use some plumbers tape on the thread where the lead screws on to the coil to get a tight fit.

I bought a chinese one originally and its output is really good but after about 30 minutes of idling its so hot I cannot touch it...so I decided to go buy a real one from Yambits.

it will get hot if bike is idling for 30 mins 😅it probably wouldn't get that hot if cruising around. but never trust the Chinese crap.

I been working in China last two years, most of the orings, rubber bits, accessories, cables, fuse boxes, tyres, chain, master links, lamps, lamp holders, keys....e.t.c all come from China on this bike now. I am left with the stuff I cannot buy in China. Its the same stuff in all honestly, especially stuff like orings.
