Someone must have done this out there, how easy is it to fit an xs650 engine in a xs400 frame. What needs to be changed and what can be kept i.e. exhausts, air box etc. A friend has an engine so its an option i was looking in too.

Hi ive got an XS400 Special 1980 sohc with odd size tyres on it. the manual says the tyre size should be 3.50-18 front and rear. Mine has a 3.60-19 front and a 130-90-16 rear which is rubbing the chain slightly.:shrug:

Hi all ive just brought a US imported XS400 Special could anyone identify the model from the frame number code its 3W5 and the engine number matches:shrug:

I have brought one from Yambits but mine has a slight bend in it so hope its not a problem. Thanks LuckyEight

Hi everyone im new to the forum, Ive just brought an XS400 Special 1980 and the kickstart lever is broken. I have tried a few local breakers here in the UK but they seam to be like hens teeth to find. Is there another model of bike that shares the same lever?:banghead:
