    So Damn Load!

The new Mac mufflers I have are for the 360/400. They are from a replacement exhaust system, but I used shorties with home made baffles. Stock types are way too quiet for me.

    1978 XS400-2E Intro and Build

Got the baffles built and installed. Noisier than anticipated but still quieter than the original baffles. Fuel mixture went leaner too. Idle mixture had to go about 3/4 turn richer. Haven't done final jetting on mains because I haven't ridden it yet. Need to finish brakes and clutch...

    1978 XS400-2E Intro and Build

Hey, Bcware, Are you still running those shorty mufflers with the stock baffles? I found them to be restrictive because of the 1'' inlet and outlet size on the baffle. I'm working on some 1 3/4 inlet/outlet baffles that will move the exhaust gasses through a series of holes equivalent to the...

Gear mother f'r! Do you wear it?!

Boots, jacket, chaps, and helmet unless it's so hot I'll pass out and crash. They started calling me Barbwirebilly after I slid through a six strand barbed wire fence at about 50mph after hitting an oil slick in a hard turn. Yee-ha I went for a ride. Full leather got me through with only a...

Can you use this connecting rod in xs400

Xs400 rods are an insert bearing rod and are replaced in matched pairs for balance purposes. If the rod is damaged the crank is also most likely damaged. Rod bearings are selective size dependent on crank pin O.D. and rod I.D. . There are number code markings on the crank and rods, but...

I suppose I'll have to work on my welding

I've still got the seat off mine. (went solo) The pan is in good shape and it has an almost new professionally done cover. The front seat area has been cut down a bit but still has plenty of padding. Not as big a step as the later models. Grainy vinyl cover so you don't slide around on it...
