    Thanks for the reply BBS! A quick update, after getting it back on it worked great for about 10 or 12 cranks, then back to its old tricks. :shrug: At this point, no clues. Thinking a new sprocket is in order.

    I've read so many horror stories about how this can go terribly wrong I handled this like it was nitro glycerin, that's why I felt the need to post this. I followed some of the tips here and after about a dozen tries I thought I had finally succeeded, but definitely wanted to verify. Good luck...

    Seems mine is engaging around the same point, about halfway through the stroke and the gear sliding on the shaft without problem. Thanks Mike that helps.
