I mihgt just have a go at this - i finally got the bike running well (leaking inlet rubbers + bad ignition coil) and have found it isnt charging.
I have measured all the resistances and everything seems (more or less) in the right ranes, I also checked the rectifier diodes and they also seem...
To seat them just tighten them finger tight - alternatively if you remove the carbs again you should just be able to see the tip of the needle through the hole on the inlet side of the carb when they are 'seated'
I want to check my 'theory' of what is wrong with my engine before I clean the carbs (yet again)
1) Engine is quite hard to start, especially when warm
2) Idle is poor and will die after a while
3) If i pull RHS spark plg from engine while idling it cuts out completely
4) If I pull LHS...
Im a newbie to this bike / engine - can someone point me to how i can quickly identify whether my engine is SOHC or DOHC (I think its the former, but dont know how I can check...)
many thanks
Dave
