ROCK ON!! That ride must have been a blast to put down some big miles!
I go to school at Western Carolina University, originally from a town outside of Charlotte. The roads up here are nuts! Amazing rides! Some back roads here make the blue ridge park way and dragons tail look easy! Some...
Thank you so much wallster! Grate job! This is what im going to go with when i rewire my bike this spring! But i will remove the stock controls to simplify the bars and the wiring!
Slowly been working threw the charging system over the past week. But the bike is running like a pig... Having a hard time even getting the bike to idle, after a day the batter is flat. But making progress non the less
But i wanted to see if you know what this part is. Me and a friend tried to...
Ok well that's cool I will have to test that. Do you think that the bike not running well has to do with the charging system being bad? I have a voltage meter on the battery whille its running and its getting around 12.2v. Im thinking that since its not getting 14v its not giving the spark plugs...
Well after checking some wiring diagram i found this, it shows 4 wires coming out of the coil and only 3 heading into the wiring harness... witch means i haven't found the issue yet.
I also saw this just a moment ago, (cell pic so it might be hard to see)
There are 2 sets of wires that are coming from the left side of the case, both have 4 wires coming from them. One set all the wires are white the other have more than one color. The set that has 4 white wires...
Yes I also pulled out the coil and the center part(witch im guessing id the stator?) looked for any bad wiring and it all looks grate. So I cleaned all the old oil out and got a new gasket and re-installed it all.
Also i got it running well so i took it down the road, while wiring was all...
shoot me a reasonable number, i will also ship them if needed.
I will also trade for electrical parts on a 77 xs400. Things like regulator, wire harness...
Or any other trade for a 77 for that matter.
Hey guys i have collected a few sets of carbs over time i have a set of carbs off a DOHC xs400 look to be in working shape and everything is there, I have cleaned them out but don't know if they work because i don't own a DOHC bike.
The XS650 carbs came of a 80's model i believe. They look...
Hey guys sry for the late replay going through a move. Yes i have a magnetic pull from the coil, and a good one at that. I tried the radio shack rectifier from the 650 site and the same results only 12.3-12.4 going from the terminals on the bat. Don't know what to think of it. But im also having...
Well i got the ground out of the way but now im not charging. These bikes use a brush-less system so idk what more could be wrong that im not getting charge.
ok tried the bike with the stock rectifier and the new regulator and the voltage is only at 12.2 lower then it is when the bike is off...
If the rectifier is bad will it keep the bike from starting?
Im running out of ideas... the bike worked grate then all of the sudden started blowing fuses...
ok well the fuse was blowing because of some temporary wiring to the rectifier. So now im going to try the new regulator that they use on the XS650 site. Got one for $20 the other day and figured id give it a shot.
Do you know if the rectifier needs to be grounded as a unit? i know the new...
