Hello everybody,
This XS400 year 1982, with only 10k miles on the clock is for sale for the equivalent of 1200 usd (what is acceptable here in Brazil, but intent to reduce a little bit)
As this model wasn’t sold here (in accordance with some information I have this bike arrived illegally here more than 20 years ago using a Canadian license plate), I would like to know if its characteristics (shape of the tank, color etc) matches with the year model 1982 sold in Canada and oppinions about the bike.
I already have other bikes from the 70’s and beginning of the 80’s as Honda hawk 400.
How this bike compares to the similar models as above mentioned Honda?
If it is really a Canadian model, what could be its original characteristics as power, torque etc?
The present owner will sent to me the VIN number, as soon as have it I’ll send it to you all.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Alvaro Costa
Maybe the only Brazilian to own (if it is really original) a XS 400.

Yes, that would appear to be a well maintained(if the picture is recent) 1982 XS400 RJ also known as XS400 SECA.

It has a DOHC engine and a 6 speed transmission.

As far as the colour is concerned, I can not confirm or deny if that was the original paint.

I don't know much about DOHC bikes...but the paint doesn't seem to be original (compared to google pics). At least there shoud be YAMAHA emblem/badge on the tank (not sticker). And I am not sure about the color of side panels under the seat as well

Thank you guys
Now I have a lot of things to check when looking at the bike "in person", that will happen in a couple of days.
Still waiting the VIN numbers (engine & frame), to see if the numbers match.

There were no models sold exclusively in Canada but some bikes had slightly different components in the carbs. Different style slide needles and maybe jets but no change to performance.
