    1978 XS400 Carb Slide questions

Inside the top of the carbs there is the diaphragm and the slide and spring and needle. My question is about the little plate that the large spring sits on. I am re assembling the carbs, and it looks to me like if this plate isnt floating off the bottom of that side, then no fuel is getting into...

So if I got new handlebars (which I did) should I strip the paint off of them so I can get that ground off the handlebar switch? Not fully strip the paint but just the spot I need, you know what I mean.

    XS400E Wiring Troubles S.O.S.

I'm wondering if there are maybe some open loops or something, maybe dirty connectors? There is a wire in my headlight that has a double connection and as far as I can see there is nothing that plugs into it. As far as I know there is nothing missing from the bike. And it is a 1978 xs400

XS400 Tracker/Brat Build with Frame Modification

What size is your rear tire? Im wondering because i want to basically do the same thing as you guys, all i want to do differently is make it a bit slimmer, or is that even possible? Do the springs hit the tire? Also, when you were bending the frame in, did you worry about bending the springs at all?

    Wondering what this bike is

Just bought an XS400 from a random guy, he said it was a 1983 but I'm not sure. Other than telling me the basic model (xs400) and the year, I have no clue what it is. Hoping that somebody can ID the thing for me as far as if it is a special or something like that.
