So, this weekend I got a new set of carbs - gotta love my local, same model same year even and they had "cleaned '07" sharpie'd on them! I still tore them apart and cleaned 'em...there was carbon build up around the edges of the butterfly valves (not on the valves themselves, but on the walls...

Picked up a new carb to replace the drilled-out one...time to dismantle and clean :)

It's from a 77 XS750 - it's what's on the bike now.

SO, ch-ch-ch-changes... First, had to move the starter button t the other side. TO get an idea why, try starting your bike cold, and having to give it a bit of throttle - while your right hand is grabbing the frame behind your butt! (so now try it with the left hand grabbing the frame...much...

Thanks FWIW, the button mount is actually one of the hydraulic hose mounts from the front that I had left over when I moved everything around for the new handlebars. As for the Enfield, there's a shop up here that carries them, they usually have about a half-dozen on the floor whenever I go...

Cleaned the carbs this weekend and resynchronized them. WOW...like a new bike! :thumbsup: While I had her "apart" I decided to get into some rewiring. Removed the dummy lines from the headlight relay (since it didn't come with the bike...sigh...) and removed the dummy line to the kill...

I'm necro-ing this thread because no one ever really gave a definitive answer. I removed mine (XS400F) and she still runs fine (also removed the yellow line and the ground from the headlamp relay to the generator)
