What did you do with your XS today?

Today, I got my bike started for the first time in 3 years. Makes a big difference just knowing it still does run.

    Minimum Required Electric

Is the battery here acting as a capacitor would in a normal dc electric device after the rectifier to give constant DC voltage?

    Minimum Required Electric

I have an '81 xs400. It has an electric start and battery, though the start button appears gone and i'm not sure the battery is healthy, in fact I'm pretty sure its not. What at minimum do I need to have hooked up to use the kickstarter. Does the battery still need to be in it? I assume...

    Petcock Vacuum line, where too

So it there supposed to be a T into both those vacuum lines? Or does it just go to one and the other gets capped off. I swear I just read that it only goes to one of them, now I'm confused.

    Wire Wheel on Sealing Surface

What did you do with your XS today?

Today I took the honda shocks off and put the originals back on. At some point I think I wanted to make some kind of bobber thing and wanted to lower the back end. Well back to stock and now the center stand works again. And more clearance to work. Also cleaned and prepared the petcock for...

Thank you. What is the piece called that I do not need? In tank filter?

    Filter on top of petcock

I have something that looks like this so I do not need one? Which means nothing is on top of the petcock it just bolts to the tank with both holes empty, correct?

    Filter on top of petcock

Back after a couple years of re-organizing life, I'd like to finish my 81 xs400h build. I keep seeing in threads and on google something sticking out of the top of the petcock. Is this a "filter"? Mine doesn't have one, and never seems to have had one and seemed to be running okay when...
