Today, I got my bike started for the first time in 3 years. Makes a big difference just knowing it still does run.

New battery seems to have been the issue. Starts up just fine now. One or two kicks.

Is the battery here acting as a capacitor would in a normal dc electric device after the rectifier to give constant DC voltage?

I have an '81 xs400. It has an electric start and battery, though the start button appears gone and i'm not sure the battery is healthy, in fact I'm pretty sure its not. What at minimum do I need to have hooked up to use the kickstarter. Does the battery still need to be in it? I assume...

I only wire wheeled the surface of the petcock not the tank. I think its fine. I was just not sure how much damage wire wheels really do if any

Sorry didnt put a photo since there is no visual issues, its just a petcock, I was just not sure if it would need to be sanded or something before being pressed against thanks surface.

So it there supposed to be a T into both those vacuum lines? Or does it just go to one and the other gets capped off. I swear I just read that it only goes to one of them, now I'm confused.

So, I'm cleaning a petcock for a rebuild, and the previous owner had used RTV sealer to attach it to the tank. The stuff was on there pretty good so I thought I'd hit it against the wire wheel on the bench grinder, and sure enough took it off instantly and all the dirt and it was nice and shiny...

I have something that looks like this so I do not need one? Which means nothing is on top of the petcock it just bolts to the tank with both holes empty, correct?
