    Sweating Oil at Filter Cover

you could use liquid gasket, the really pliable when dry ( bendable) and let it completely dry before assembly. it would be like a big o-ring. You could put a fiber washer under the crush washer on the outside as well that may be all you need

    Burning oil?

I changed the oil/filter in late july and went for a trip wed. and was almost a quart low on oil. there are no spots on the ground where i park it and no signs of it leaking but im losing oil magically, anyone else have this problem? is it just because of it being air cooled and running hot?

    Starter stopped working

you could also connect a wire from the control boxes to like the handlebar mounts which ground it, then you dont need to ruin your new bars. just connect the wire to one of the screws that tighten the control housing to each other

    Starter stopped working

kill switch, horn, turn signals, even lights are all grounded through the handle bars. so you will need to scrape the paint off under the switch housings on both sides. should solve the problem

    Petcock question

the vac on the 400 was only to turn it on and off as the motor was running. like frwinks said, if it fits go ahead, just remember to cap off the carb boot when you remove the vac line or your engine will not run. mine pops off occasionaly and engine jsut dies

petcock runs on any pos (res, on, prime)

ya mine did the same thing even after i replaced the diaphram and all that. i just bought a small inline shut off switch made by briggs and stratton for lawn mowers and put it in where the line goes to the carbs. works great for me, i just close it before i park it for a while, like overnight...
