So pretty much my bike is running fine until i rev the engine, after that the rpm's seem to go crazy high and wont go back down unless I am to pull on the choke all the way, someone want to enlighten me as to what may be happening? I have a 80' XS400G if it helps

so i picked up a 1984 yamaha maxim 400 and it leaked allot of oil and would rev to about 8000 then pop and sputter a bit so here is what i did
i took the hole top end of the motor off took pistons out cleaned them and put it back togather allso to note i took one piston out at a time.
