Hey, I am building a 1981 XS400 and am not sure if I have all the pieces necessary to put the new clutch cable on. From what I have read on other feeds, there is a removable black plug that sticks out of the cover on the lower left side of the engine. The cable should enter through the plug and then connect to the clutch rod actuator. My problem is, I can't see where the cable house is secured. If I'm making sense to anyone, please reply and clue me in.

Loosen the adjustment screw at the clutch lever, then slide the pivot screw out of the clutch lever. remove the Left/rear cover(not the stator cover)The rear cover where the cable is going into. Then you will be able to slide the end of the cable out of the clutch case lever.

I do not have my bike together, but I hope this will help you.

this is the backside of the cover, where the end of the cable leads into. remove the bolts, sliding it outward, disconnect the cable. After removal, re-install and adjust to desired clutch grab/feel. :D

The cable is held in place with this.
