I actually figured it out this morning. It's when I hit my brakes at low rpm it shuts off. It just happened to be when I hit the clutch, the Rpms go down so there fore shutting down. Now I have to figure out why it's sucking all the juice from my power to a point where it shuts down. But I'm...
hey. i have a 1980 sx400. everythings been good on it until yesterday when it started shutting off when i came to a stop. well, after riding it a little more i noticed that you dont have to come to a stop for it to shut down. if you just pull the clutch lever, the rpms go dont to zero and it...
Im also new to the bike scene. I took it down the interstate a few days ago on my 1980 xs400 and it cruised fine at 75. Wasnt gunna go much faster though. Rpms were around 6500. Stayed that way for about an hr before I got off and it did great. It was the first time being on the highway on 2...

I got it going as far as itll go. And the pin goes inyo the groove just barely inside the drum brake to hold it in place so I dont think it would go in any frurther. Idk how long it is exactly. I have to pull it off again amd measure it. Ive just been going off of my tach for awhile now. I gotta...
Yea sorry. Its a drum brake with spokes. Didnt kno they came with disk brakes at all.lol but I did prop up the front wheel and spun the tire. No action there. And as far as it.being fully seated, I have it pushed in as far as it will let me. Feels secure. So im guessing im going to be taking the...
I do believe it does. It pulled right out of.the drum after u take a circular pin out. It was kinda squared off with little grooves spiraled around it.
Ok. Im looking at these pictures and reading the message and im quite skeptical about doing this myself. Now is there anything I can mess up on? Im pretty mechanically inclined but changing this gear drive will be a 1st for me.
