well I got the bike running today. Did a little adjusting and its running great! However I had to pull the carbs off (hopefully for the last time) to add lock tight and properly torque down the brackets, But hopefully tomorrow I can finish wet sanding/ polishing the paint and get everything back...
The leak is fixed !!! Picked up some new orings and they solved the problem, Ill hopefully finish adjusting the carbs tomorrow and get the bike back together. On another note What spark plugs should I use Im going to switch mine out but not sure what to look for.
can someone further explain the alignment process? all the manual says is to lay both carbs on a flat sheet and put the brackets on. Is that all there is to it? when you put the brackets on and tighten them down wont it sit the same either way?
I tried Teflon with no success. However I didn't know anything about aligning the carb bodies. Ill look that up in a moment, I assumed that the two brackets being tight would align them. guess not thanks for the tip.
I just pulled the carbs off of my 83 maxim for the 5th time this week, this time because of a leak I swear thing does not want to go back together. It seems to be leaking from the tube that runs between the carbs supplying gas It has two o rings on either side. does anyone know what size these...
Thanks. I do plan on keeping it pretty much the way it is for the rest of the season . And I don't really plan on completely changing the bike up just a few simple mods to make it my own. I really like clean and simple.
maxim has a dual overhead cam and rear mono shock I believe the frame is different too? I know mine has no frame under the engine it just mounts from above and behind. from what I understand its essentialy a cheaper version of the seca. aside from that I dont know a whole lot about it. Im new...
