Ok , I figured out my problem . I took a long screwdriver blade and mag-lite and theres no way it can go past the clutch hub and primary gears to get to the oil . Its not even a straight shot . So apparently somebody in the past just used this hermorphradite to plug the hole . Threads are...

My 1982 400 DOHC threw me a curve tonight . I bought recently as a fixer upper , so I'm not familiar with it and just getting it up and running . I checked the sightglass for the oil level ...its low but OK . I pulled the filler plug and Yikes ! it has a dipstick metal nub about an inch...
