Drewpy , I'm curious what it costs to get a bike throught the MOT in the UK ? Are they sticklers for detail , or pretty cool about it ? Here in the States they check numbers to see if its stolen , safety equipment that was applicable to that year it was built , tires etc . Everything has to...

DAMN ! that is a sweet looking rig drewpy . Thats my idea of what a bike is supposed to look like . Only thing I'd maybe change is the headlight ... no offense just personal taste and I'd like a bucket style light in mine . Beautiful , beautiful job ! x2 CB

Dipstick or not on a 1982 DOHC engine ?

LOL ... Thanks for being merciful Lou ! That'll teach me to work on an unfamiliar machine in the middle of the night after a few beers . I'm just happy I didn't have to do major surgery to fish a piece out of the engine  . CB

Dipstick or not on a 1982 DOHC engine ?

Ok , I figured out my problem . I took a long screwdriver blade and mag-lite and theres no way it can go past the clutch hub and primary gears to get to the oil . Its not even a straight shot . So apparently somebody in the past just used this hermorphradite to plug the hole . Threads are...

Dipstick or not on a 1982 DOHC engine ?

My 1982 400 DOHC threw me a curve tonight . I bought recently as a fixer upper , so I'm not familiar with it and just getting it up and running . I checked the sightglass for the oil level ...its low but OK . I pulled the filler plug and Yikes ! it has a dipstick metal nub about an inch...

SOHC vs DOHC for styling, what do you prefer?

If he comes up here to Kingman then I'll just have to buy him a beer or two so he wont kick my arse . :yikes: LOL OK the more I look at this thing , seems the older bike and engine is more adaptable to making whatever you want out of it , chopper , bobber or cafe it'll work and look really...

    400 DOHC twin durability

Lou , the body plastic seems to be impossible to find too , that's the problem with having a rare bike I guess . I'm missing the 2 plastic side covers :( . Why do people leave that stuff off when they work on something ??? Man I'd like to score on a 400 Seca tank and plastic as you know from...
