+1 on the Seafoam. Just keep running it with a good cleaner additive. My sons was doing the same thing and the more it runs the better it runs. 2 or 3 tanks and no problems.

Do you have the mounting hardware for the windshield? I am guessing that was a pretty universal sort of windshield. Should fit my sons 82 xs400 maxim bobber.
Fixed!!! The replacement CDI box was bad, so, after checking the voltage to make sure the rectifier/regulator wasn't overcharging I put a tested CDI box on and VOILA. music. Runs great now.
trust me, I understand. I have rebuilt the carbs, petcock, gone thru the electrical etc and rode it 30 miles only to have it dead the next day when my son came to ride it.
The left side not firing was the first problem in the eventual demise of my CDI. Is the plug getting a spark? Try to eliminate electrical before carbs.
Now we're talking. Thks. I did exactly that so far. We went thru and cleaned and checked every connection on the wiring harness and inside the headlamp especially. The coils were the first suspect and they both checked good. When the bike would stop running, spark stopped to both sides. This...
