82 xs400j I've never started. Pulled the carbs to clean/rebuild. Obviously they were an unholy mess. Got em cleaned up and started looking for a rebuild kit. Noticed a lot looked different so started searching part by part and same thing. I find a lot of vids and pics also look different.
I...
Im a professional metal fabricator so there would be no issues with swapping them.
I bought this as a parts/project bike. Turns out there was nothing wrong with it aside from needing a good carb cleaning. Id obviously prefer to just get a whole new frame but Im having trouble finding one...
I might try that. I bought this as a project/parts bike so not really wanting to shell out any money until i can get an idea of what state its in. Been a pretty dead end first motorcycle project so far seeing as i cant even attempt to turn the damn thing on haha
Yeah tried all that. Thing wont budge out of the off position. Im a newbie to the motorcycle world so forgive me if this sounds like a real dumb question, but could the dead battery be causing a problem???
I recently bought an 82 xs400j. It had no keys. Got one with the key code on the ignition. Works on all other locks but the main switch (will not turn at all). Im assuming I should just get a whole new ignition but want to know if i may be missing something before I do.
