i have tried new wires, tested everything. this is all i can think of. the rotor is spinning. brushes and wires are all good. still can't keep a charge. any suggestions?
i have the service manual now. thank god. i've taken the bike apart way to many times again in the last week. tried everything today except for replace the green wire. everything is working but there is still only 1 volt at the harness. think i'm gonna start with that
the wires look fine. still trying to get the right screw out to check behind the brushes. the brown wire, the return to the batt is reading the same volts as the batt itself, 11 volts, cause its not charging. but the green is still reading 1 volt
its gotta be that wire. do you know what gauge it is by any chance? batt is running at 11-12 volts key on and only getting 1 volt outa the back of that harness of the green and brn.
i just went to pull the green wire out of the alternator cover, and noticed that one of my brushes is shorter than the other. they aren't worn out, but the bottom brush is shorter. the wire looks ok. could this be my problem. are the brushes supposed to be the same length?
