I am having the same problem. I know I have a air leak on the left intake boot. But it will not start for the life of it when it's cold the choke doesn't make any difference, and normally you can hear it. So I have to start it with starting fluid. But like you when it warms up it fires no problem
Looks sweet jimvonbaden. thanks for the advice guys, I just wanna make sure the fit into the exhaust ports. I tried putting a friends 650 pipes into the spair 400 max. Motor and the flanges wouldn't line up with the exhaust studs
I would like to make my own exhaust on my maxim. I found an exhaust builder kit but it says it's for a 650. Can anyone tell me the difference between the dohc 400 and the 650. I just don't know the dimentions on the 2. I'm hoping the exhaust ports and the flange are the same dimensions.
All you said is very helpful. I think I'm gonna leave the forks alone for now. With that's being said will a xs650 caliper and master cylinder fit on the maxim?
I would like to do a fork swap, but I'm don't know where to start with what is compatible. If its cheap enough i might start with that. trying to get it road worthy first, than do my customizing to it.
Ok I just got my first bike an 82 xs400 maxim got it for 300 bucks got it running and driving around the back yard the thing doesn't have breaks pulled the master cylinder apart needs seals bad but I don't know what model it is to get a rebuild I measured the piston in the mc aND I get 12.58 mm...
