That is one of the best ways to destroy a ratchet. why not just use a 1/2 drive breaker bar to crack them loose then spin off with the ratchet??

Deflate, plenty of lube, ensure NOTHING stopping it from popping on, inflate to 50/60 psi when it slips into correct alignment deflate to correct pressure. Make sure that your rim tape (the band that sits on top of the spoke adjusters) is in good condition first 99% of time will pop on before...

Hi "dot 5" is just a different grade of brake fluid. Just make sure that you top up (if needed ) with same spec fluid. It's readily available at most motor stores. Alternativley you can drain out the dot 5 and replace with fresh dot 4. Personally I wouldn't bother. Just ride and enjoy.

Nice one, glad to see that some of my info has been usefull. As I said in a previous post, pickups off many bikes of this era are the same, but come with different harness. So while the correct one for this model is preferable, if you are good with the soldering iron and heatshrink a repair can...

No point in removing the plate .... just unscrew the coils and they lift off the plate. Doesn't matter they look new, mine look perfect!!! Use the meter to test then replace as necessary Cheers Terry

Had same with mine after strapping down, cleaned area of oil rode it around for about 20 miles or so... no leaks happy times. Possibly just forcing past seal not blown it. Worth a look before stripping and replacing? Terry

Hi I had same same problem with my bike, it is more than likely pickup coil. 4 wire connector at ignition box needs to show resistance of about 140 ohms orange/black then grey/black obviously disconnect to perform test. Connector also has black/white trace wire that goes nowhere on my bike...

All sorted now runs like a new one ! Front brake had new master cyl kit fitted, works well. Need to sort fork seals then off for MOT

That's the first area I was going to look gets all the crud etc. I am expecting broken wire as I got a zero reading as opposed to a low reading. Not to worry got some coming cheap from Ireland anyway !!!! Terry

Tested pick up coils reading cyl 1 120 ohm cyl 2 0 ohms ooops either broken wire (please) or coil fubar................. bugger
