Good Morning Everyone,

I have been lurking on the site for some time now, and finally picked up a XS. I picked up a 1978 XS400. It has just over 15,000 on odometer. I bought it from my brother-in-law. It ran when he had it and he rode it for 1 season, it has been sitting in his garage for about a year. I have to get a battery for it and see if it will start up. Plan is to get it running over the winter and ride it back and forth to work next year.

Thanks,

Tim

Hi everyone,

I picked up a battery and threw it in and the bike started right up. Electric start and it kicks over on first kick.

Now to get it ready for winter.

Tim

Going to update my thread a bit. Over the winter I went back and forth about selling my xs400, and even posted it on the forum for sale, but have recently decided that I am going to keep it and hit the open road with it. Today I got all the lights working and removed the dry rotted rubber turn signal grommets and used oversized washers in the place of the grommets. Also took the front fender off as it had a crack in it. The side covers have the tabs broken off them, so i took them off also. This is how it sits at the moment. Hope to put it on the road in the next few weeks.
