Non plastic floats buoyancy testing??

Thanks Mr S, this bike has points but I'll check the charging circuit to see if there is a problem. I think I'm at the point where I can't see the wood for the trees so need to start thinking logically instead of making assumptions. The forum is a good way to refocus

Hmm I thought all from 80 on were electronic ignition. But yours is a UK model so anything's possible. There's nothing like a brain storming session with like minded people to jog other possibilities that seem unrelated. Like checking the tire pressure because it wont turn over. (I've been told that recently)

Put some new plugs in it. Even tho you said they where new last year, if they got soaked in gas they could be fouled. I have had "new" plug crap out from a poor running motor and not work at all. After a fresh set the motor ran perfect.

Good point Chris, will do. Also buying a new Motobatt battery as seemingly the fitted battery was 3 years old and in truth probably not great quality. Will then check the charging system, even though it was okay at time of its return to the road, its possible that the regulator/recitifier is marginal after 6/7 months of use following the initial 18 year lay up.
