Can anyone tell me the best tyre pressure for my XS400 12e Seca
Please
Thanks

The manual has suggested pressures listed. Since tires have evolved, the bike has aged, and most riders weigh more today than in `82, the "best pressure" is the one that provides good handling and reasonable tire wear. For you, on your bike, riding as you typically do. Experimentation and note taking is typically required. Being able to measure the tire temperature after riding would be an asset, but not something most of us can do.

im 170lbs 32psi up front and around 38psi in the back... Kenda Challengers

Dave what would you say is a solid operating temp? Im sure it changes depending on weather and manufacturer, just curious. Ever since i bought one of those IR guns i never shy away from pointing it at stuff and the lady is getting tired of me telling her the temperature of her cleavage...

Everybody knows that cleavage is HAWT!

Seriously though, I'd be looking for consistent temps across the contact patch rather than a specific temperature. For example, not hot in the center and cold on the sides. A couple degrees difference, fine. 10 or more and I'd say the pressure is wrong.

Keeping notes detailing pressure, observed handling and ride quality, and temps will allow one to quickly determine the optimum pressure for their particular needs.

Now I'm going to go buy an IR temp sensor...

I have always ran 28 front 34 rear on my bikes and never had any issues. I think the manual call for 28-36.

I should add that I have stock size wheels. If you run "fat" tires the bikes tire pressure will be different. Running fat tires greatly affects a bikes handling.
