Refinishing my gas tank - Part 2

I did a pile of reading on painting a tank and to be honest the info I found online was very conflicted. The one product that seemed to be raved about was the spraymax 2 part clear coat due to its gas resistance.
I went to a CMAX (NAPA) paint shop and told the about the clear coat I'd chosen but asked them to recommend the rest.
They agreed on my clear coat choice and had used it and made me up a spray can of professional auto black because they said the 2 part clear would attack most spray bomb paints. The primers were ones they had in stock and recommended so I went with that.
At this point I only really have one day left with a shop I can spray in so I'm going to have to run what I brung and hope it works out.
Hopefully it's ok. I really did prep my ass off lol.

You'll be fine with the 1part paint that they mix up there in the cans for you. Body shops use it all the time. Not ideal, but it gets small jobs done ok. You'll like the spray max clear, it is just as good as mixing up your own and shooting with a gun. I spilled gas on mine all the time and you'd never now it. It comes out of the can 'ok' but you will get a bit of orange peel. If you put it on thick, you can remove the peel during finishing.

The only reason I shun the primer is because it's the weak link. The color coat and your clear are basically clinging to it. and the primer is clinging to the metal. So if anything is going to give over time, it will be the primer, and if the primer gives up the color and clear will go with it.
