    Sprocket question

I put a 17 tooth on mine and it made a big difference. Now the bikes runs smoother and vibrations are barely felt. For now, I dont think that I need to change the rear sprocket.

Thank you xschris. Can you suggest where I can get those filters? They use 54mm ID so they are kind of hard to find.

    Mikuni VM34 Jetting Advice

Hi to all members here on the forum. I would like to share some thoughts on my experience dealing with aftermarket carbs. I got my 1980 XS400 for $200 from a widow. The gas tank was perforated and the bike had been sitting on a garage for 6 years. I tried to keep the original carbs but one of...

    Power loss after 4000 rpm

Thanks. I don't have the mikes. I had her with a single carb but then changed it to two carbs. Mike xs carbs are the ones that you get in Amazon at $30 each. I got the original Mikuni VM30-83 which are the ones that I used on a kawasaki kz that I had and they worked great with her.

    Electrical death

Hi guys I do have the Haynes manual but I didn't find anything related to this. Anyway I started moving cables around and found that there was a bad connection in the fuse holder. Took all cables and solder them back and the bike is alive again! But I really appreciate your responses. Now the...

    Electrical death

Hi to all. This is my first post. I bought a 1980 XS400 which was sitting for 4 years in a garage. I bought new carbs, battery and a new tank. She fired up with the kick just fine given that the starter is not working. After this first start she is getting harder and harder to get started. I...
