    How to Rejet

+1 on 6sigma jets. I got them for something like $40 for the pair and it included plenty of shims (both steel and nylon), two different sized jets for each carb, and two drill bits, one to drill out the plug to get to the mixture screw (if you haven't already) and one to drill an auxillary hole...

For Sale - polished stainles steel cafe/ flat track seat base f/s

I would definitely be interested in one made of steel for around that price, what is the lightest gauge you could do? Also, to be honest I really only need the "hump," not so much the "seat" area. Would you be willing to just sell the steel "hump"?

    For Sale - 1978 XS400 Fuel Tank (above-average condition)

I am selling the original Maroon-colored tank off of my 1978 XS400. The tank is clean on the inside and has no pin holes or anything, and no rust either. The only problem is that the bike got tipped and has a roughly baseball-sized dent on the right side where the badge would go. (there are also...

    What Size Pod Filters?

I bought some pods through Bike Bandit a few months back. Used the site's search feature to make them bike specific in order to ensure a good tight fit. Once I ordered them and tried to get them on, they were too small. The box they came in even said it would fit my specific bike and it didn't...

About to jet, need some guidance.

One more question before I tear into the carbs again- Can I take the slides out and adjust the needles without removing the carbs altogether? Just take the tops off and slide them out?

About to jet, need some guidance.

Nice. This is exactly what I was thinking. Side question- the bolts that hold the carb "boot" to the head, do they have a torque spec? If so, how does one get a socket on it? I can't even get a box end on them let alone a socket.

About to jet, need some guidance.

I got a jet kit that had (2) 150 jets and (2) 145s. I went straight for the biggest jets, which seems to have cleared up the sputtering top end. But it seems to be lean at the 4K-6K range now. Will using the smaller 145 jets "richen" up the mid range? Or is it possible I need to go even BIGGER...

About to jet, need some guidance.

So I have been chasing similar problems with my carbs and my bike also has pods and straight out headers. I got a jet kit and changed the main jets to 150's, raised the needle one notch, and now have a total of three needle shims shims as well. After doing all of this, I noticed the tips of the...

    First Carb Rebuild - 2 Mikuni BS34s

Best of luck, I'm gonna give it the ol' college try this weekend. I'm gonna bake it first and fashion a nail, and if that don't work, gonna get out the big guns!

    First Carb Rebuild - 2 Mikuni BS34s

Damn, looks like I'm on my own with this project. I knew finding someone with the exact same problem on the exact same day was too good to be true. Enjoy riding your bike while I'm still getting these damn tips out. I'm just not sold that it is impossible yet.

    First Carb Rebuild - 2 Mikuni BS34s

Anyone know if you can use XS650 carbs on a 400? There are a bunch of them on ebay but none for the 400

    First Carb Rebuild - 2 Mikuni BS34s

Here is one other thought/question- seems like everything I have read thus far leads me to believe that even if I CAN get the screw ends out of the holes, there may be damage to the holes that they were stuck in (ie they were screwed so far down that it punched the holes out too big for new...

    First Carb Rebuild - 2 Mikuni BS34s

I work for a fab company and we do powdercoating, s I'm gonna throw it in the oven for a while and heat it up to 400 and see what I can do. Good call on the boiling idea, in theory it sounds like a plausible solution, but my only concern would be water in the carb. Probably not anything to worry...

    First Carb Rebuild - 2 Mikuni BS34s

I've been a lurker on this site for a while.... I am having this EXACT same problem as we speak on my 400. Found both needles busted off when I was rejetting... could have been me or the previous owner. Probably me. I'm waiting with baited breath to see if you guys can come up with something...
