I have for sale, a muffler for a MAC 2-into-1 Exhaust System for XS400s. I am using the headers for my project, but I am going to be using a different muffler. This muffler is new and unopened and still in the box. I comes with the muffler and hardware as seen in the two photos here. $55...

    Successful LED signal conversion

This is a great post! I' m working on wiring my led turn signals at the moment. I got a led conversion flasher relay that has 2 wires. I think it's hooked up correctly, but the signals only work intermittently. The signals will suddenly stop working when I'm testing them by turning on and off...

Also I'd need to know if you are running a rear disk brake or rear drum.

I might be able to do that. you would need to get a set of rearsets first so I would know what diameter the hole needs to be to mount them to the bracket.

Yes I made them myself out of a nice piece of aluminum we had at the shop. And they do mount right up to an unmodified frame. I made a set out of wood first to get everything lined up right.

Thanks! The bike was running when I got it so hopefully most of the engine is good. I did take the valve cover off and check out everything. I also set all of the valve clearances. Then I cleaned everything up and painted.

I think i started with 180 grit and went up to 800 grit sand paper on the polishing. I wanted a little bit of the matte finish look instead of the mirror finish. did it all by hand. it took a lot of time but i have more time than money!

A quick update post: Wiring is all done except for finding the right tail light for the bike. I want integrated turnsignals. The controls are all hooked up and working, except for the throttle. I haven't finished the carbs yet. The rearsets are all squared away. I still need to modify the...

It wasn't a conversion kit. The swingarm, wheel, disk and caliper are from a 1978 XS400E. I simply mounted it all on to my frame and added some longer shocks.

Rear Disk Brake Screw - Whats up with it?

There is a screw that comes with the brake pad kit that screws into the back side of the caliper. it seems to push on the inside brake pad when you screw it in. (Labeled #5 in the link)...

    Front Master Cylinder Piston Diameter

Does anyone know off-hand what the diameter of the front master cylinder piston is for an XS400? I have the disk and caliper on my custom build, but no front master cylinder and I'm trying to figure out what I need to get. This will be going on clip-on handlebars as well so I need to make sure I...

    '82 XS400 Special

A quick little 1 photo update... We finished the fiberglass seat and did some work on creating some brackets for the rear sets and rear master cylinder. Since this photo, we have also finished restoring the tank up to the primer stage. No more dents! it took a lot of work because it looked like...

    '82 XS400 Special

Its a 1980 Motron Medalist. Basically, an Italian moped with a Minarelli engine that has a CVT. I rescued it from a curb on trash night and restored/customized it. Here's a photo: Good suggestion. The curves of the tank are definitely playing into the seat shape. Its kind of hard to see in...

    '82 XS400 Special

Just a quick update on my progress... The front and back wheel are all sorted out now as far as spacers, sprockets, discs. The engine is all prettied up and valve clearances all set. Waiting for new cover gaskets and then it'll get all buttoned up. I started on making the fiberglass seat...
