    After market master cylinder question

1: You can't wire it backwards. It either breaks the connection or completes it 2: If it got hot enough to melt the switch I would guess that there is a short somewhere in your brake light circuit

Brake shoes are they the same in both 83 and 84

I don't suppose anyone has used these brakes before and could offer up a review? http://www.d2moto.com/p-36799-1982-1983-yamaha-xs400-front-rear-brake-pads-and-shoes.aspx I know the EBC are name brand but the price seems rather high at almost $100 for the front and rear pads+shoes. Is there any...

Brake shoes are they the same in both 83 and 84

As the title says, I need to know if the 83 and 84 seca XS400 use the same shoes. I can't seem to find a listing online anywhere for my 1984 model, but everyone seems to list the 1983.

    What years will cross over?

So my bike is registered as an 1984 Seca XS400 however lots of the places I look only list a seca xs400 up to 1983. Was the 1984 model marked specific (ie canda only?) If so what year range of parts will fit my bike?

    Front caliper rebuild kit

Hey all, So I got my new master cylinder in (see my other thread) and though all was well. However, when I zap straped the brake handle to the handle grip overnight (to aid in getting those damned bubbles out) I came back the next morning to find brake bluid on my disk. Clearly at some point...

    New Master cylinder

Another question for you all. I don't suppose anyone would know off hand what the size and thread pitch of the front calliper bolts is? The parts fiches show a bolt, a washer, and a lock washer. But there are no mentions of size, length or thread pitch. Also if anyone would happen to know the...

    New Master cylinder

So I've ridden and worked on a number of 400cc bikes over the years but I just picked up my first 1984 Yamaha XS400. I picked her up for $270 not running and without registration. The registration doesn't bother me as I've jumped through the hoops before with a couple previous projects, and with...
