Stuffing the exhausts and swingarm bearing

Bronze bushes appear to have been originally fitted to earlier 400 models. The latest Brit design bushes are self lubricating, metalic alloys, so should easily outlilve the 25,000km done by my machine, and without fear of seizing with aging rust. Being somewhat softer than the bushing sleeve on...

Stuffing the exhausts and swingarm bearing

My 83ish 400 Maxim did not show any rear wheel movement relating to bearing wear, because the needle bearings had collapsed, siezed and eroded deep grooves on the shaft (or bush) I ordered a new bush shaft off the internet from a UK dealer claiming to source original parts, priced aprox 50 UK...

What did you do with your XS today?

This is my first success, so I'm also unsure how best to keep this finish except for reading some suggestions about giving it a good waxing.

The More I Take Apart, The More I Find to Fix...(Complete Rebuild or No?)

Just sharing your dilema MotorPsycho. Got my machine as a project destined for a complete rebuild, but stripping it down soon revealed all the hidden faults, such as collapsed swing arm bearings, missing carb jet and snapped inlet mount bolt among numerous other larger issues. Under 30 years...

Thanks for reply Drew, and nice set of wheels you've rigged up. This is my first go at attempting a full restoration, and it would be nice to think I could get it looking half as good as your outfit. Just stripped a front fork to find these will ideally require rechroming...

Hi to the forum, which looks to be helpfully informative for my latest project, and first Yamaha. I discovered it shown in this forum under previous ownership of Matt. He optimistically claimed it being 99% completed except for a few wires, although it was purchased off ebay at a more...
