79 XS 400 stock carbs

I'm wondering what mechanical carbs I need to replace my stock cv carbs??? and also I running a 2-1 exhaust, what do I need to set up a mechanical carbs setup?? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Any aftermarket carburetors will work, the hard part is getting them working together and getting the correct needles for them. Keihin Pwk series carbs are a popular swap and the parts are available almost anywhere.

If I was to replace my vacuum slides, I would go with either a set of keihin flat or round slides or a single pwk on a two to one intake for ease of tuning.

And I would only ditch the stock carburetors if rebuilding them is impossible, its harder to get an aftermarket set tuned without a large kit of needles and jets and a dyno setup.
