"aftermarket" regulator / rectifier

I came across this write up and was wondering if anyone tried it on a 400 or know if it would(not) work on our bikes?

don't think the regualtor will work as our bikes have a field coil and the 650's have brushes

The Triples and XS1100's use the same basic alternator setup as the 400. There's a lot more information on Triples website, about charging, etc., that can potentially be useful.

hmusket, I just scanned through the links, will read some more later, but it seems the tripple guys use the same Chrysler/radio shack set up as the 650 guys...

I looked on the site, type A or type B regulators.

"Through my learning about voltage regulators, I discovered that there are two circuit types of regulators. You have a type "A-circuit" and type "B-circuit" when it comes to voltage regulators. The difference is that in the A circuit: the voltage regulator field wire (F) provides 'ground' to the field coil while in the

does anyone know or have any ideas on how to verify which type is on the 400?

Nice find Drewpy, I'll have to use that if my new ignition unit doesn't pan out for me
