bikes running great now after 2 1/2 years sitting. my battery wont charge. where should i start now?

I'm having a charging issue as well. There are a million threads on it here so search. drepy, drewcifer, 1979XS4002-F, XSLeo and others have a lot of good info in various threads. As I'm gathering - The first easy thing to try is to start the bike and see if a razor blade (or other very light piece of metal) will stick to the genertor/stator cover. If not, look at your regulator. This is where my issue seems to be at the moment.
