Hello, I come to you guys from ZX6R.com it has a very similar lay out as here. This is only my second forum I've joined. I only been riding since last September. My other love is a 07 ZX6R Ninja. Hope yall take photobucket photos easy like the other forum. ZX6R has become a second family to me. I deleted my facebook account because everybody was tired of me talking about motorcycles. I got tired of pictures of their cat and junk food.

I had love for vintage motorcycles way before the T.V. show Cafe Racer. Although, that show only fueled my desire to build. My brothers best friend been riding for 20 years all by himself. As soon as I got my bike, I called him up so we could roll.
In the process of Red (we'll call him) showing me his old used trackday tires, I noticed something better then just tires. It was a dusty, red 1977 xs400 sitting in the corner. It was like porn at first sight. Red said I could just have it, get it out of his way.

I guess I still had cafe blood on me from the Rockers Vs. Modders Reunion the past couple weekends ago. I hit up Red to see if he was really serious about giving me that bike. Sure as shit he was. All I had to do was give him back a pair of leather pants I bought from him when I first started riding. Pants 4 sizes too big was better then nothing when I first started riding and it was cold out. I now have better fitting leather, and my cafe bike I've always wanted. Life is almost complete. I just need life in the 400, and it will be complete.

G'day Speedy,
Nice start, your bike is already looking heaps better.
What are your plans - tidy up and ride or a bit of customisation?
Don't forget that your carbs are dirty until the 4th or 5th clean.

I want to incorporate the original looks of the tail end along with most of the bike. But the first thing I did was get rid of the whole rear fender. Find or make a flat foam pad for a seat some how next. I'd like to rig a 99-02 R6 tail light in the back end of the tail. The two circled lights next to each other. Then maybe some drag bars and some shorty levers. Get some K&N air breather stacks, gut the mufflers, fix the forks and roll.
After of course I go through the engine, and get a battery.

I'll have to look into the starter switch. It has been by-passed to kick start only. Carbs will need like ya said cleaned at least 5 times. Get the rust in the tank out. Mainly hope to just get it running before I tear into too much....

I wish I can cure my bike fever mine has been down about a month maybe a tad bit longer.Stupid trivial crap has keeping my bike from running.Piecing together my exhaust and waiting for cash so I can pay someone to weld it.Then the hunt for the banjo bolt that holds our fuel line to the carb, not being able to find it anywhere even online:banghead:.So I take the old one to a machineshop to have one made.Maybe by thursday I`ll be on the road and able to :bike: again.
