So I picked up a 1980 xs400. After the bike gets good and hot 15-20 minutes of riding, the electrical system does weird things.
When cold I can get 13.5 volts at 2500 rpm. When hot it freaks out my meter, which reads 0.00 and then goes blank.
I wired up a small led LED voltage display so I could get real time veiw on what's happening. 30 seconds in the display read 0.00, and shortly thereafter it burned out.
I swapped out the regulator and rectifier with a combo unit I had on hand and it did the same thing.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this. I am chasing my tail on this.
