No, not the diaphragm, the slide. Look in the middle of the pic - two screws, two holes, one you can see through. I've made the same mistake.

Mine doesnt have the 2 screws just the hole.The tab on the outside of the diaphram lines up the slide on my carb ny ways.
Maybe I'm missing something - I thought both the BS34 and BS38 carbs had two screws that held the needle in...
My bs34 uses a circlip that holds in a plastic piece which sits on top of the spring, washer, spacer, e-clip, and needle. There are no screws in the diaphragms.
