Hey guys - first post here, veteran mechanic but a XS400 newbie.
Just picked up a non-running 1980 XS400 from a buddy. First problem I noticed is that with the ignition turned on, the battery voltage drops way down. Also, with the switch on, the resistance between the + and - terminals (with the battery removed) drops to just about 0.
The resistance for the stator wires is about 1ohm, and the field coil wires are showing 4.5ohms. What should I check next?
